Researcher Thomas Waters spends time in the library

We were thrilled to welcome Thomas Waters to the Museum last week.  Tom is a writer on witchcraft and magic in the modern world and has published some fantastic articles on the perception and practice of magic in the period.  He is currently researching for a book with Yale University Press and was particularly interested in some the material held in the Archive on cursing and witchcraft in late twentieth and early twenty first century Devon.

He kindly donated his article entitle 'Maleficent Witchcraft in Britain since 1900', which includes some fascinating research on the Anglican Church and its changing attitudes to magic and the supernatural after 1970.

He has published some great articles (read more at his Academia page, https://imperial.academia.edu/ThomasWaters/Papers).  We look forward to welcoming Tom back to the Museum and reading his view of witchcraft in the South West...
