This is in response to a query on a Facebook page

As has clearly been stated on official Museum sites before - there is NO TRUTH to any of the rumours that have been made the museum collection is being broken up and sold to America - the museum collection is in trust and cannot be broken up at all. Graham is making plans for the safe transition of the museum to its next owner, whoever that may be, when he retires in a few year's time. Whilst we can understand people's concern for the future of the museum we would ask that you contact the museum directly on 01840250111 or museumwitchcraft@aol.com if you have any specific queries!!!

That's good to hear; I find it interesting that this erroneous rumour developed in the first place.

I wonder if the rumour might perhaps have its origins in the fact that the collection formerly housed at Gerald Gardner's Museum of Magic and Witchcraft was sold off to a U.S.-based organization by Monique Wilson back in the late 1960s. In a state of confusion this tale might have been passed along the occult grapevine, eventually degenerating into the current rumour ?

Good point that may be the case
